c) 56 + 12 × 34 – 12 = 102

d) 112 × 44 – 12 + 10 = 46

Answer: (a)

8 ÷  44 - 5 + 25 = 203

from the question by changing the symbols, we get

⇒ 8 + 44 × 5 - 25 = 203 (using VBODMAS rule)

⇒ 8 + 220 - 25 = 203

⇒ 228 - 25 = 203

⇒ 203 = 203

⇒ LHS = RHS.

Therefore the option (a) is correct.

Question : 7

If A = '+', B = ‘-‘, C = '×' and D = '÷', then which of the following equations is correct?

a) 8 B 6 D A 4 C 3 = 15

b) 9 C 9 B 9 D A 9 = 17

c) 3 A 3 B 3 C 3 A 3 D 3 = 41

d) 8 A 8 B 8 C 8 = - 48

Answer: (d)

From option (d),

8 A 8 B 8 C 8 = - 48

from the question by changing the symbols, we get

⇒ 8 + 8 - 8 × 8 = - 48

⇒ 8 + 8 - 64 = - 48 (using VBODMAS rule)

⇒ 16 - 64 = - 48

⇒ - 48 = - 48.

Therefore LHS = RHS.

So option (d) is correct.

If > denotes +, < denotes -, + denotes ÷,  ^ denotes ×, - denotes =, × denotes > and = denotes <, choose the correct statement of the following.

a) 28 + 4 ^ 2 = 6 ^ 4 + 2

b) 13 > 7 < 6 + 2 = 3 ^ 4

c) 9 > 5 > 4 – 18 + 9 > 16

d) 9 < 3 < 2 > 1 × 8 ^ 2

Answer: (c)

From option (c),

9 > 5 > 4 - 18 + 9 > 16

By interchanging the signs,

9 + 5 + 4 = 18 ÷ 9 + 16 (using VBODMAS rule)

⇒ 18 = 18

Thus, option (c) is correct.

If ‘T' means (×), 'U' means (-), 'X' means (÷) and W means (+), then what will be the value of the following expression. (50 X 2) W (28 T 4)

a) 142

b) 158

c) 137

d) 163

Answer: (c)

Given expression, (50 × 2) W (28 T 4)

After interchanging the letters with symbols, we get

(50 ÷ 2) + (28 × 4) = 25 + 112 (using VBODMAS rule)

= 137

If '÷' means addition and '×' means subtraction, then (15 × 9) ÷ (12 × 4) × (4 ÷ 4) is equal to

a) 96

According to the question,

Required answer =  (15 × 9) ÷ (12 × 4) × (4 ÷ 4)

from the question by changing the symbols, we get

= (15 - 9) + (12 - 4) - (4 + 4) (using VBODMAS rule)

= 6
