Questions : In a class, the number of girls is 20% more than that of the boys. The strength of the class is 66. If 4 more girls are admitted to the class, the ratio of the number of boys to that of the girls is

(a) 1 : 4

(b) 3 : 5

(c) 3 : 4

(d) 1 : 2

The correct answers to the above question in:

Answer: (c)

Let number of boys be x.

Then, $x + 120/100x = 66 ⇒ x + {6x}/5 = 66$

${5x + 6x}/5 = 66 ⇒ x = {66 × 5}/11 = 30$

Number of girls = 66 - 30 = 36

New ratio = 30 : (36 + 4) = 30 : 40 = 3 : 4

a) 8%

b) 13%
