The candidate has to remember the position of letter in English alphabetical order and find out the relationship between the given letter or group of letters in the first pair & then find a set of letters to fit in place of question mark in second pair.

The relationships between the letters can be of following type,

Type 1: Vowels or Consonants based Analogy

In this type of Analogy, mostly vowels and consonants are based types are used as the main relation in it, some samples given below

Ex 1. IDK : EFJ : : AVX : UCD

Here, the first 2 words start with the two vowels I & E and the next two words start with the two vowels A & U. Last two letters of every word are consonants.

Ex 2. ATK : EGN : : IDY : OWQ

Here, the first 2 words start with the first two vowels A & D and the next two words start with the next two vowels I & O. Last two letters of every word are consonants

Type 2: Increasing / Decreasing or Forward / backward position of letters based Analogy

Forward Letter Positions (Left to Right)
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP QRSTUVWXYZ
123456789101112131415 1617181920212223242526

Backward Letter Positions (Right to Left)
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP QRSTUVWXYZ
262524232221201918171615141312 1110987654321

Ex 1. KN : BE : : PS : WZ

Ex 2. HL : QT : : IM : NR

In example (1), the first alphabets K is increased to N (i.e. K+3 = N), and B is followed by E.
(i.e. B+3 = E), Similarly to PS : WZ

In example (2), the first alphabets H is increased to L (i.e. H+4 = L), and Q is followed by T.
(i.e. Q+3 = T), Similarly to IM : NR

3. HE : PM : : ZW : OL

4. SM : HB : : KE : VQ

In example (3), the first alphabets H is decreased to E (i.e. H-3 = E), and P is followed by M.
(i.e. P-3 = M), Similarly to ZW : OL

In example (4), the first alphabets S is decreased to M (i.e. S-6 = M), and H is followed by B.
(i.e. H-6 = B), Similarly to KE : VQ

ABCDEFGHIJKLM
ZYXWVUTSRQPON

1. WHITE : DSRGV : : BLACK : YOZXP

1. WV : IH : : RQ : GF

2. ML : BA : : ON : UT

In example (1), the first alphabets W is previous letter to V (i.e. V-1 = W), and I is followed by H (i.e. H-1 = I), Similarly to RQ : GF

In example (2), the first alphabets M is previous letter to L (i.e. M-1 = L), and B is followed by A (i.e. B-1 = A), Similarly to RQ : GF

i.e. AB "CDE" FG, Similarly PQ "RST" UV

In example (2), in the first pair 4 letters is skipped between the two letter groups of each pair to form the analogy,

i.e. GH "IJKL" MN, Similarly IJ "KLMN" OP
