Sum of eight consecutive numbers of Set A is 376. What is the sum of five consecutive numbers of another set if its minimum number is 15 ahead of average of Set A ?

Average of Set A = $376/8 = 47$
Minimum number of second set = 47 + 15 = 62
Hence, required sum = 62 + 63 + 64 + 65 + 66 = 320
If an amount of Rs. 15,504 is divided equally among 76 students, approximately how much amount will each student get?

Amount received by each student
= $15504/76$ = Rs.204
If $(12)^3$ is subtracted from the square of a number the answer so obtained is 976. What is the number?
Answer: (d)
Let the number be x.
∵ $x^2 – (12)^3 = 976$
∴ $x^2 = 976 + 1728 = 2704$
∴ $x = √{2704} = 52$
How many pieces of 8.6 metres length cloth can be cut out of a length of 455.8 metres cloth?
Answer: (d)
Number of pieces = $455.8/8.6$ = 53
A 3-digit number 4a3 is added to another 3 digit number 984 to give a 4-digit number 13b7 which is divisible by 11. Then, (a + n) = ?
Answer: (b)
| Number 1: | 4 | a | 3 |
| Number 2: | 9 | 8 | 4 |
| Number 3: | 13 | b | 7 |
⇒ a + 8 = b ⇒ b - a = 8
Also, 13b7 is divisible by 11
⇒ 7 + 3 – (b + 1) = 9 – b
⇒ 9 – b = 0 ⇒ b = 9
∴ (b = 9 and a = 1) ⇒ (a + b) = 10
