The agricultural sector in India has low productivity because of
- Traditional farming methods;
- Lack of adequate machinery;
- Lack of finances for farmers;
- Lack of good quality seeds and
- fertilizers and ownership of land.
Besides, the increasing pressure of population on land is an important demographic factor responsible for low yield in agriculture. Shortage of finance, marketing and storage facilities are also responsible for agricultural backwardness in India.
