Question : 1
Statement:
A sign board is necessary which shows direction and distance..
Assumptions:
I. A sign board can be made without using any languages.
II. To show direction and distance only sign-board is a good media.
a) If only assumption I is implicit
b) If only assumption II is implicit
c) If either I or II is implicit
d) If neither I nor II is implicit
e) If both I and II are implicit.
Answer »Answer: (d)
Without using any language there is no use of any signboard as we writes on sign board. Secondly 'only' makes it weak so both assumptions are not implicit.
Question : 2
Statement:
Better understanding and cooperation among the exporters is needed. Effort should be to complement each other, rather than competing among themselves.
— View of an agriculturist
Assumptions:
I. Exporters stand to lose if they act as competitors.
II. Farmer-industry co-operation can work wonders.
a) if only assumption I is implicit.
b) if only assumption II is implicit.
c) if either I or II is implicit.
d) if neither I nor II is implicit.
e) if both I and II are implicit.
Answer »Answer: (a)
Why does the agriculturist focus on ‘better understanding’, ‘co-operation’ and ‘complementing’ among the exporters? He must be assuming I. Assumption II can’t be correlated with the statement.
Hence, II is not implicit.
Question : 3
Statement:
“Problems with your spouse and too little time to hash things out? Online couple therapy may be for you.”

c) if either I or II is implicit.

— An advertisement
Assumptions:

b) if only assumption II is implicit.

d) if neither I nor II is implicit.
e) if both I and II are implicit.
Answer »Answer: (e)
