A shopkeeper blends two varieties of tea costing Rs. 18 and Rs. 13 per 100 gm in the ratio 7:3. He sells the blended variety at the rate of Rs. 18.15 per 100 gm. His percentage gain in the transaction is
Answer: (a)
CP of 1000 gm tea = 18 × 7 + 13 × 3
= Rs. (126 + 39) = Rs. 165
CP of 100 g = Rs. 16.5
S.P. of 100 g = Rs. 18.15
Profit = Rs.(18.15 – 16.5 ) = Rs. 1.65
% gain = $1.65/16.5 × 100$ = 10%
A man buys 2 dozen bananas at Rs. 16 per dozen. After selling 18 bananas at the rate of Rs. 12 per dozen, the shopkeeper reduced the rate of Rs. 4 pre dozen. The percent loss is:

C.P. = Rs. (16 × 2) = 32.
S.P. = Rs. (12 × 1.5 + 4 × 0.5)
= Rs. (18 + 2) = Rs. 20.
∴ Loss% = $(12/32 × 100)$ % = 37.5%
Dhiraj purchased 150 kg of rice. He sold $1/3$rd of it at 10% loss. At what per cent of profit must he sell the remaining rice so that he can make 10% profit on the whole?
Answer: (b)
Let the C.P. of 150 kg of rice be Rs.150.
∴ S.P. of 50 kg of rice at 10%
loss = $90/100 × 50$ = Rs.45
For 10% of gain on the whole.
S.P. = $150 × 110/100$ = Rs. 165
∴ 100 kg rice should be sold for Rs. 120.
∴ Per cent gain = 20
A tea-merchant professes to sell tea at cost price but uses a false weight of 900 gram for a kilogram. The profit percent in his transaction is
