Type 1: Conversation or Deciphering Jumbled-up description Based Blood Relation Questions

In this type of questions, a person gives information to the person either. In a photography or in front of him. Using this information, a relation is established to identify the person that has been described to the photograph (or) about whom the information is provided.

Note: Here there is a difference when the narrator is pointing to a picture it may be possible that a person is pointing towards himself in the picture. But, when he/she points to another person, then it is not possible that the person will be the same one.

Learn how to draw a family tree diagram using following example with step by step:

Consider A, B, C, D, and E are the members of a Family,

1. B and D are married couple.
2. D is not a male.
3. E is the son of B while B is the son of A.
4. C is the sister of E.

from this given information, now follow the below steps to draw and complete the family tree diagram,

Step 1. From the statement I, B and D are married couple and this can be represented as below,

Step 2. From the statement II, D is not a male means D is definitely a Female. Now already we know B and D are married couple, then B is Male. This can be represented by,

This shows that B is the husband and D is the wife.

Step 3. From the statement III, E is the son of B and B is the Son of A. Now, the family tree will be added with as follows,

Pointing a man in a photograph, a man said to a woman, “His mother is the only daughter of your father”. How is the woman related to the man in the photograph?

Solution:

Let us draw the following family diagram,

Now, it is clear that the only daughter of the woman's father is the woman herself and hence, the man in the photograph is her son.

∴ Woman is the mother of the man in the photograph.

Option (b) is the correct answer.

Introducing a man to her husband, a woman said, “His brother’s father is the only son of my grandfather”. How was the woman related to the man”?

Solution:

According to the question, Family tree is drawn as,

The only son of woman's garndfather will be woman's father, who is the father of man's brother and therefore of man also.

Thus, the woman is the sister of that man.

Option (b) is the correct answer.

A woman said to a man,” The daughter of your only sister is the sister of my husband”. Find the relation of man’s sister to the woman.
