(x +3) (x –4) = 0

y2 + 5y + 6 = 0
y2 + 2y + 3y + 6 = 0

(y+2)(y+3) = 0
y = – 2, – 3

x2 + 8x + 5x + 40 = 0
x(x + 8) + 5 (x + 8) = 0

y (y+2) + 3 (y + 2) = 0
y = – 2, – 5
so, y ≥ x

y(y + 6) + 6(y + 6) = 0
(y + 6)(y + 6) = 0
y = -6, -6
So, x > y.

x(x + 4) + 5(x + 4) = 0

8y(y – 1) – 7(y – 1) = 0
(8y – 7)(y – 1) = 0
y = $7/8$ , 1
So, y > x
