In the university examination last year, Rajesh scored 65% in English and 82% in History. What is the minimum percent he should score in Sociology. Which is out of 50 marks (if English and History were for 100 marks each), if he aims at getting 78% overall?

Rajesh's scores in each area is 65 and 82 respectively out of 100 each.
Since, the exam is of a total of 250 marks (100 + 100 + 50) he needs a total of 195 marks in order to get his target of 78% overall.
Thus, he should score 195 – 65 – 82 = 195 –147 = 48 marks in Sociology which would mean 96%
Natasha decided to spend 45% of her salary on shopping. On completion of her shopping, she realised that she had spent only Rs. 11475, which was 60% of what she had decided to spent. How much is Natasha’s salary ?

Suppose the monthly income of Natasha is Rs. x.
$x × 60/100 × 45/100 = 11475$
$x = {11475 × 100 × 100}/{60 × 45} = {11475 × 100 × 100}/2700$
x = Rs. 42500
If two numbers are respectively 20% and 50% of a third number, what is the percentage of the first number to the second ?

Let the third number be 100.
Then, the first and second numbers will be 20 and 50, respectively.
Required % = $20/50$ × 100 = 40%
What is the value of 150% of 3342 ?
Answer: (a)
Required number = 3342 × $150/100$ = 5013
Sumit obtained a total of 1012 marks out of 1150 in an examination. What is his percentage in the examination?
Answer: (a)
Required percentage = $1012/1150$ × 100 = 88
