Answer: (a)

Ratio of the number of coins

= 8 : 5 : 3

Ratio of their values

= $8 : 5/2 : 3/4$ = 32 : 10 : 3

Sum of the ratios

= 32 + 10 + 3 = 45

Value of one rupee coins

= $32/45 × 225$ = Rs.160

Number of one rupee coins = 160

The ratio of values of rupee, 50 paise and 25 paise coins

= 13 : 11 : 7

Ratio of their numbers

= 13 × 1 : 11 × 2 : 7 × 4

= 13 : 22 : 28

Sum of the ratios

= 13 + 22 + 28 = 63

Required number of 50 paise coins

= $22/63 × 378$ = 132

A box has 210 coins of denominations one-rupee and fifty paise only. The ratio of their respective values is 13 : 11. The number of one-rupee coins is

Answer: (b)

Respective ratio of the number of coins

= 13 : 11 × 2 = 13 : 22

Number of 1 rupee coins

= $13/{13 + 22} × 210$

= $13/35 × 210 = 78$

A bag contains three types of coins-rupee-coins. 50p-coins and 25 p-coins totalling 175 coins. If the total value of the coins of each kind be the same, the total amount in the bag is

Answer: (d)

Let the number of coins of 1- rupee coin be x.

Total value of the coins of each kind is same, then the number of 50 paisa coins

= 2x and the number of 25 paisa coins = 4x.

According to the question.

x + 2x + 4x = 175

7x = 175

$x = 175/7 = 25$

Total amount in bag

= 25 + 25 + 25 = Rs.75

Ratio of values of 50 paise, 25 paise and 10 paise coins

= $2/2 : 3/4 : 5/10$

= $1 : 3/4 : 1/2$ = 4 : 3 : 2

= $3/9 × 90$ = Rs.30

Number of 25 paise coins

= 30 × 4 = 120

In a bag, there are three types of coins — 1-rupee, 50 paise and 25-paise in the ratio of 3 : 8 : 20. Their total value is 372. The total number of coins is

= 3 : 8 : 20

Ratio of the values of these coins

= $3 : 8/2 : 20/4$ = 3 : 4 : 5

= $3/12 × $372 = Rs.93

Value of 50 paise coins

= $4/12 × 372$ = Rs.124

Value of 25 paise coins

= $5/12$ × 372 = Rs.155

Number of coins

= 93 + 124 × 2 + 155 × 4

= 93 + 248 + 620 = 961

Ratio of the value of coins

= $1/2 : 2/4 : 3/10$ = 5 : 5 : 3

Value of the 10-paise coins

= Rs.$(3/13 × 6.50)$ = Rs.1.5

= 1.5 × 10 = 15
