The average of four consecutive even numbers is 9. Find the largest number.

a) 10

b) 8

c) 6

d) 12

Answer: (d)

x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 = 9 × 4

⇒ 4x + 12 = 36

⇒ 4x = 36 – 12 = 24

∴ x = $24/4$ = 6

∴ Largest number = 6 + 6 = 12

Question : 2
